TEST 2: Verifying MAP Sensor Has 5 Volts And Ground
In this last test section, we need to make sure that the MAP sensor, on your 2.4L Honda CR-V, is getting power and Ground.
The fuel injection computer on your 2.4L Honda CR-V is the component that supplies the MAP sensor with power and Ground.
We'll be testing the yellow with red stripe (YEL/RED) wire for 5 Volts.
And we'll be testing the green with white stripe (GRN/WHT) wire for Ground.
To test both of these signals we are going to do a simple multimeter voltage test.
IMPORTANT: Be careful not to short-circuit the Ground wire to 12 Volts (battery power) or you'll damage your Honda CR-V's computer. The multimeter voltage test indicated in the test steps below is a safe way to test this Ground.
These are the test steps:

Place your multimeter in Volts DC mode and turn the key on but don't crank or start your 2.4L Honda CR-V's engine.

Verify that the YEL/RED wire has voltage (4.5 to 5 Volts DC) with the key on but engine off.
Connect the red multimeter test lead (using the appropriate tool) to the YEL/RED wire. Connect the black multimeter test lead to the negative battery terminal.
Your multimeter should read 4.5 to 5 Volts DC. - 3
Verify that the GRN/WHT wire has Ground with the key on but engine off.
Connect the black multimeter test lead (using the appropriate tool) to the GRN/WHT wire. Connect the red multimeter test lead to the positive battery terminal.
Your multimeter should read 12 Volts DC.
Let's analyze your voltage test results:
CASE 1: The MAP sensor is getting power and Ground. This is the correct and expected test result.
You can now correctly conclude that the MAP sensor is bad if you have confirmed that it is not producing the correct MAP signal when you apply vacuum do it (per the instructions in TEST 1).
CASE 2: The MAP sensor IS NOT getting power or Ground. Without power or Ground the MAP sensor will not function.
This lack of power or Ground is usually the result of an open in the wiring between the MAP sensor connector and the fuel injection computer's connector.
Although it's beyond the scope of this tutorial to verify these two wires on your 2.4L Honda CR-V, your next step is to check the continuity of these two wires and restore power and/or Ground to the MAP sensor.
