How To Test The Blower Motor (2002-2006 2.5L Nissan Sentra)

TEST 2: Applying Power And Ground To The Blower Motor

In this test section, we're gonna' test the blower motor by applying power and Ground to it.

If your 2.5L Nissan Sentra's blower motor is OK, it should activate and run when you apply battery power and Ground to it.

Let's get started:

1. 1

   Disconnect the blower motor from its electrical connector.
   
   The connector has 2 wires. The blue with white (BLU/WHT) wire supplies power and the blue with black (BLU/BLK) wire supplies Ground (via the blower resistor and blower switch).

2. 2

   Apply battery power to the blower motor.
   
   You'll be applying power to the male spade terminal (of the blower motor itself) that connects to the BLU/WHT wire of the electrical connector.

3. 3

   Apply chassis Ground to the blower motor.
   
   You'll be applying Ground to the male spade terminal (of the blower motor itself) that connects to the BLU/BLK wire of the electrical connector.

4. 4

   The blower motor should run.

Let's take a look at your test results:

CASE 1: The blower motor ran and ran without any bearing noise. This is the correct test result. You can conclude that your Nissan Sentra's blower motor is functioning correctly.

CASE 2: The blower motor ran with a lot of bearing noise. This test result tells you that the blower motor is defective and needs to be replaced.

Worn out bearings will cause the blower motor to use more current. This excess amperage draw will cause the blower resistor and/or the blower switch to burn out.

CASE 3: The blower motor did not run. This test result tells you that the blower motor is defective and needs to be replaced.
